Cherish those who seek the truth but beware of those who find it.

  1. So, according to Voltaire, the reward is in the pursuit but not the discovery? Is truth a tar baby? (Referencing “Song of the South” not a racial slur) Or is he / are you saying that there is no truth at all?

    1. What is true, is true regardless of whether or not we know it. As for our knowledge, there are degrees of certainty. While I am highly confident that 1 + 1 = 2, I am less confident that 8.74 x 0.61 = 5.3314, perhaps my calculator is faulty, perhaps I’m misremembering the numbers.

Both the individual and society are best served when we accept only the most unquestionable, as true.
