  1. So nicely put. Quran says, be good and do good so that you may become a believer (not the other way).

  2. “Amen!” I don’t need someone in the sky to tell me what’s right and wrong! As the Greeks asked, “do the gods love the pious because it is the pious, or whether the pious is pious only because it is loved by the gods”…. The most disgusting things can be justified merely if God calls them “abominations” to be eliminated!

  3. The religion of the heart: love – is the unity of all religions, the essence what man connects, is the sun that shines for everyone without asking what outer label one may bear (skin-colour, social religion, nation etc.) We should all meet us on the level of man with the connecting link: love

    1. But a decent person compared to what standard? You certainly don’t have to believe in God to be good but without God existing you are left with just a relative standard of morality that varies person to person (or group of persons) to which the preferences held aren’t binding on other individuals.

      Just something to think on.

      1. A decent person compared to our society’s agreed upon standard.

What makes you think standards of morality are anything but just relative, vary person to person (or group of persons), and indeed not binding on other individuals?

  4. I think this misses the point a little. For instance Christians wont claim you need to believe in God in order to be good but we would claim that for an objective good/bad to exist God must exist. Otherwise any ‘good’ posited is simply individual preference with obligations of persons towards others.
